Ocean Viking assesses the situation: the white Fiberglass boat is unseaworthy, inapt for navigation in high seas, overcrowded with 60 people on board, all exposed to the elements, no Life Saving Appliances available. Ocean Viking ascertains that the distress phase exists as the persons on board are threatened by graves and imminent danger of being lost and require immediate assistance.

17:02 Ocean Viking emails the competent authorities to inform about the situation.
17:11 Ocean Viking receives an email from ITMRCC authorizing the delay of the ETA in Marina di Carrara.
17:56 Ocean Viking has visual on an overcrowded boat at approximately 2NM distance, the boat is unseaworthy, inapt for navigation in high seas, overcrowded with 67 people on board.
18:05 Ocean Viking emails MRCC Malta (ITMRCC in copy) to inform about the situation.

Ocean Viking RHIBs assessed the situation: the fiberglass boat is unseaworthy, inapt for navigation in high seas, overcrowded with about 71 people on board, including children, women, all exposed to the elements, no Life Saving Appliances available. These people are requesting to be rescued. It is ascertained that the distress phase exists as the persons on board are threatened by grave and imminent danger of being lost and require immediate assistance.
